| Moving away from Soho and embracing the elegance of Fitzrovia, Chinawhite returns to great acclaim. Long considered a pioneer in its field, Chinawhite combines its formidable heritage with a brand new distinct, progressive and modern approach. ‘Our thinking behind this club is, what is relevant now? As we rise from economic uncertainty, do people really want to leave their houses at 10pm and go to clubs that are nothing more than celebrity platforms?’ Comments Jeremy Hartley, Co-Founder and Managing Director. ‘We believe that is an out-dated concept. When you walk through our doors, you are taken care of in a very bespoke and service led way – a space to eat beautiful food, a space to dance and most importantly a space to spend time with friends. This is relevant now.’ Inspired by London’s earliest clubs dating back to the 1920’s that entertained ‘outsiders and misfits’ Chinawhite is set to be a melting pot of creatives and independent thinkers. The club is newly located in a grade II listed building on Winsley Street, Fitzrovia, an area which in it’s day was regarded as the centre of artistic importance and home to literary royalty such as George Bernard Shaw, who frequented the infamous Fitzroy Tavern. The UFO Club was home to Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix played at Speakeasy and Bob Dylan debuted at the King and Queen pub, all of which creates the fabric of the area’s past. Likewise, the new Chinawhite guest is not defined by wealth but by a desire to exist outside of the ordinary and guests will come to the club to meet other like-minded people. The poem was penned by a Hong Kong based calligrapher and then realised digitally and projected onto the back of a 30ft glass panel. A gold leaf wall exudes an almost otherworldly light. The VIP room is accessed via a bespoke cast brass door and leads into a cocooned space with low level seated booths surrounded by intricate carved wooden frames. The restaurant serves a modern twist on classic Asian dishes such as Kung Pao chicken, sashimi tuna, blackened halibut, griddled watermelon and toasted ricotta salad as well as grilled foie gras with langoustine. The menu has been designed by chef Adam Penney who has been cooking in London’s gastro-pubs and fine dining restaurants for 14 years, notably the award-winning Horseshoe in Hampstead, Bibendum and The Lonsdale in Notting Hill. Chinawhite is also proud to announce the arrival of Fatima Yashira, Ibiza’s most highly regarded VIP host. ‘Chinawhite defines a new era in nightclubs. This is unlike any other club you have been to : it’s intellectual nightlife, the insider’s insider. And just to be clear …. this club will not make you famous.’ Comments John Stephen, co-founder and Chairman. |
