Sushi Cafe Delicious

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

It may have lost its status as X Factor house location (unless there’s a last minute reprieve) but Golders Green has gained one rather healthy Japanese by the name of Sushi Cafe Delicious.

Owned by the Cafe Japan crew, it’s certainly got locals talking.

Sushi balls or temari topped with shiitake mushroom and salmon are almost too pretty to eat and sushi cups of organic brown rice are served with a shot of collagen jelly which promises to make diners prettier as well!

Sushi cakes – a healthy concoction of rice, vegetables and seaweed are the new cupcakes for the body beautiful.

Soya sauce has been given the heave-ho as it’s considered far too high in sodium but if you can’t resist that salty fix you can always cheat an add it at home. But try the teriyaki, basil or spicy sesame alternatives before getting too happy with the Pearl River Bridge.

Wafflemeister- National Waffle Day

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

National Waffle Day: it sounds unlikely, but in fact it is the anniversary of the first US patent for the waffle iron in 1869. Honestly! It’s true! In case you were wondering, it was granted to Cornelius Swarthout of Troy, New York. Because Wafflemeister can’t resist any occasion to celebrate the waffle, on August 24th, 2010 it will be on a mission to share the love of its favourite treat by giving away free little waffles at its stores in Embankment and South Kensington, between 12pm and 7pm. Visitors will also be able to pick up a retro Wafflemeister pin and balloon. The Belgian family recipe used at Wafflemeister dates back to the 1950s and has been the secret behind its great-tasting, handmade waffles since 1999. Wafflemeister only uses all-natural ingredients for all its products. At only 172 calories per waffle it’s a pretty guilt free treat!.

Peroni’s La Dolce Vita

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

We’ve become accustomed to movie greats such as Martin Scorsese, Baz Luhrmann and Ridley Scott directing ad campaigns for the likes of Chanel but now esteemed Italian director, Gabriele Muccino of The Pursuit of Happyness fame has shot the new campaign for beer brand Peroni Nastro Azzurro!

“I wanted to explore the emotion, craftsmanship and timelessness that is at the heart of all things Italian,” enthused the director.

A far cry from the Hollywood machismo of crashing waves and surfing horses, the new ad, Senza Tempo, draws on the brand’s more cinematic La Dolce Vita associations and a very fashionable collaboration with classic Italian label, Moschino – which created bespoke costumes for the entire cast – makes for an impossibly stylish affair.

Shot against a backdrop of the eternal city of Rome, up-and-coming Italian actor Francesco Scianna plays the role of a young director set on recreating a lost love (gorgeous newcomer, Gioia Mazzocchi) through the medium of film.

To celebrate the launch and the 50th anniversary of La Dolce Vita, Peroni is embarking on an Accademia del film Wrap Party Tour which kicks off at London’s Old Truman Brewery on the 26th August with an interactive exhibition of Italian film.
