Samia Kamar Handbags

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Whoever said diamonds were a girls best friend clearly never considered how many beautiful and extravagant bags there out there, and we have  just came across one which exudes luxury. Samia Kamar handbags are exquisite bags which are delicate to the touch  and sourced from the finest baby calf leather, shaven and laser cut with precision using the latest technology, resulting in the antique lace-like finish, trimmed with leather or patent with gold hardware accent. A versatile, trans-seasonal piece which will take you from day to night.

Inspiration for the AW10 collection comes from diverse influences all drawn from the city of Florence; “All old things beautiful that have a story to tell inspire me, from antiques to colours on a canvas of an artist from the old generations to the new.” The collection is named after flowers in Italian. Signature styles are the Ortensia clutch and Peonia hobo in a rich colour palette of purples, burnt reds and chocolate browns.

The only draw back is the price, but if you feel like treating yourself then this is one thing worth indulging in. Prices start from £1,200, made to order and available at exclusive stockists internationally.

The Queen’s Year

Friday, July 16th, 2010

The outfits, the grandsons, the corgis, the crowns – it’s hard not to feel patriotically bound to Her Majesty. From July 27th The Queen’s Year, the special exhibition at the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace, will celebrate the Palace finery whilst showing what exactly is involved in the daily life of a Monarch.

The 250+ social events that mark the Queen’s calendar will be documented, showing off the regalia, the outfits the gifts and the artefacts that make each occasion so very British. At the heart of the exhibition you will find a collection of the historical pieces that come into play for ceremonial events, including the Robe of State, which has never been displayed to the public before. Made in 1953 for the Coronation, the red velvet cape and train measure 18ft in total and weighs an impressive 15lb.

See also some more modern day fashions amongst ten of the Queen’s Ascot hats, as well as three evening dresses made by personal courturier Normal Hartnell accompanied by the Vladimir tiara, also a rare appearance.

The Queen’s Year will run from July 27th until 1st October at Buckingham Palace, entry £17/£15 concessions. www.royalcollection.org.uk

MET Bar Fest-TEA-Val Tea

Monday, July 12th, 2010

If you’re a fan of The Berkeley’s delicious Pret-a-Portea then you’re sure to love the brand new Fest-Tea-Val afternoon tea at London’s iconic Met Bar.

And if you didn’t manage to snag one of Glasto’s posh yurts then this is surely the next best thing.

This Rock ‘n’ Roll High Tea features deconstructed sandwiches, Glastonbury mud pies, Tent in the Park cakes and biscuits shaped like umbrellas and wellington boots (green Hunter homage natch!).

So far so good. But here’s the clincher. The Met has teamed up with Patrón Tequila who have devised four exclusive accompanying cocktails.

There’s the Tea-quila – with mint and green tea, the Honey Bee – with lavender flowers and honey, The VIP Pass – with mint and cassis and the Headline Act  – strawberries, crème de mure and prosecco.

Go on give it some welly!
