PJs Bar & Grill – Pole Position in SW3

PJ’s Bar and Grill on the fashionable Fulham Road is the original smoothie! Restaurateur and polo aficionado, Brian Stein, launched the hip venue back in 1990 as a testament to his love of good food and polo, the beautiful game of the beautiful people.
PJ’s stands for Polo Joe’s and the atmospheric Boston styled interior is awash with pieces of polo history from lovely black and white and sepia prints to winners’ trophies, cups and historic balls and mallets from the glory days. The double height space boasts a unique installation too – suspended from the ceiling is a classic wooden aeroplane propeller from one of the very first Vickers-Vimy crafts of the Twentieth Century.
Stein also hosts an annual polo party to mark the start of the UK season, the guest list of which, reads as a veritable Who’s Who for the sport’s glitterati.
We visited the restaurant on a balmy summer’s evening and its clientele proved as gorgeous and glamorous as chukka-winning polo ponies themselves – nubile young fillies with endless coltish legs and enough eligible young studs that were enough to make a girl go weak at the knees.
And that was before we even tasted the mouthwateringly delicious food! Starters of Pan Seared Scallops with Pea Puree and Chorizo and Wild Mushroom Open Ravioli with Tarragon Veloute were outstanding and as for the mains of Sea Bass and 28 Day Aged Fillet Steak (grilled to our exact specifications) – well, we were left in a state of pure bliss!
