Pierre Koffmann at The Berkeley
As we wave goodbye to the Berkeley Hotel’s Boxwood Café, Matthew Freud may well have his work cut out as far as Gordon Ramsay is concerned.
However, as one door closes another opens and happily, this summer marks the return of the old school super chef!
Yes, following his uber-subscribed pop-up venture atop Selfridges department store last year (proving so popular that its run time was more than doubled!), Pierre Koffmann is making a long awaited reprise at The Berkeley, home from 1998 til 2002 of his renowned and three-Michelin-starred La Tante Claire.
Entitled simply Koffmann at Knightsbridge, the new brasserie style restaurant is set to open in June. But in a departure from haute cuisine, the menu promises to be a much more informal one inspired by the rustic fare of the chef’s home region of Gascony.
Make way for signature favourites from Scallops with Squid Ink to Braised Pig’s Trotters with Morels, and of course that famous Pistachio Soufflé!
