Bangalore Express
Rumour has it that Bangalore express, which opened last year across Waterloo Station in London, is the first of many to come. The client behind it required a re-invention of the traditional curry house to match their vision for fast, healthy, Indian food. Whilst the menu and decor of this modern, Indian fresh-food place have received mixed reviews, the interior is highly commendable, with an interesting use of the “scaffolding” used to build the booths and the upper level. Linear grooved walls with abstract painted blocks lead the eye through the inter-connecting spaces. Some have called it a ‘recipe for disaster’ and others thought it looked like bunk beds. Both may be true as you do need to climb step ladders to reach the second level and much of the exposed structure is, indeed, made of FastClamp, a construction-site scaffolding system.

The interior colour scheme is organic in muted greens and browns which make you feel at ease. Whilst Banglaore express offers a takeaway service, for us it is all about the decor…come see it for yourself. The double height booths also provide 24 extra covers for the same floor space, so you have a good chance of a table. The team behind it are also own The Painted Heron.
