Nick Knight Live

Friday, December 18th, 2009

We’ve all been aware of the uber-fashionable SHOWStudio Fashion Revolution exhibition going on down at Somerset House for a while now, alas it just got even better, if you can imagine! Nick Knight is currently shooting 100 of the fashion world’s hottest faces for a feature in i-D magazine, and far from being a secretive insider affair, the whole thing is being streamed online at http://www.showstudio.com/project/fashionrevolution/live/

Some of us dream of getting this sort of backstage access – it takes more than a tenuous link to an assistant, or indeed a cheeky smile and some banter. This is the absolute cream of the crop being captured in action, posing and making-up and everything in between, and marks a significant step in bringing the inner workings of the industry to the envious masses.

So what are you waiting for? Open a new page and stream the whole event in a corner of your screen for the rest of the day – it’s most definitely a fascinating watch, and the famous faces aren’t too harsh on the eye!

Leju jewellery

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Colourful, vegetable ivory jewellers, LeJu, will be sold at the Royal Academy of Arts from 23 January – 18 April 2010 to complement the much-anticipated Van Gogh exhibition – the first of its kind to take place in over 40 years.

Three of LeJu’s popular designs will be available for purchase: The Bubble necklace, the Flor necklace, and Polo earrings. The passion, creativity and vibrancy behind LeJu’s jewellery will be a perfect addition to Van Gogh’s own use of colour and complexity.

When asked how the partnership came into being, LeJu’s Dutch-born designer Lenny Trines revealed, “LeJu jewellery is a permanent fixture at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam and our collection was spotted by one of the Royal Academy of Arts organisers who thought it would be the perfect fit to sell alongside Van Gogh’s work at the exhibition. We’re really proud to have our jewellery at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, especially since we are London-based.”

Grace Jones and Chris Levine

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

A unique collaboration between icon, Grace Jones, and ground-breaking light artist, Chris Levine, is to be shown to the public for the first time at the Vinyl Factory Gallery in Poland Street, London. These exclusive portraits will go on show from 18 March until 01 April 2010.

grace-jones

Chris Levine is a unique artist with a rare sensibility for the use of light. Renowned for his 3D and still images of iconic figures, ranging from Massive Attack to HRH Queen Elizabeth II, he has now gone on to create a series of stunning 3D holographic portraits of legend Grace Jones. Stillness at the Speed of Light will showcase the extraordinary alchemy between this iconic figure and leading cutting-edge artist.

A highlight of the exhibition will be a statement, holographic image of Grace with her eyes shut; one of several ethereal, sensory portraits. Grace’s great gift in identifying zeitgeist artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Jean Paul Goude and Eiko Ishioka, is continued with this new and exciting collaboration, whilst demonstrating the evolution in holographic portraiture.

This unique show will also be used to launch Grace’s new video Love you to life, which Chris Levine directed.
