2        Face like a marshmallow:  That crepey effect that’s a lesson in wearing sunscreen
3        Thighs like a marshmallow:   See #1.  Get ye to the gym
4        Eat Yourself Beautiful Collagen Marshmallows from Harvey Nichols … an entirely different story.

Harvey Nichols Foodmarket has just launched the above marshmallows and we forsee a cellulite busting pants style rush followed by vast Ebay mark ups!

Not only are Eat Yourself Beautiful Collagen Marshmallows a delicious snack, they also contain collagen peptide – the essential ingredient for a youthful, wrinkle free look.  Oral ingestion of one’s collagen has been shown to produce longer lasting results by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production levels – without medical intervention, needles and lips like Leslie Ash.

Apparently the levels at which our bodies produce collagen naturally slow down by about 1.5% per year after the age of 25 – eeek – but the good news is that a daily oral intake has been shown to reduce the appearance of cellulite, firm and tone skin and even help reduce joint inflammation.

But beauty panacea or not, the little grapefruit flavoured poofs are the perfect excuse to eat sugar with impunity and we reckon that come September they’ll be popping up aplenty in goodie bags at London Fashion Week

Sharp as a Tack

Monday, July 27th, 2009

The prestigious Friday Late program at the V&A museum is back, hosting an exclusive event charting the history of women’s tailoring in Britain.

Women’s Tailoring: Genesis and Evolution will share the knowledge and expertise of three great British names – Jaeger, the high-class high-street favourite; young and blossoming brand Evie Belle; and Tailoring for Women, one of the few female entities on the legendary Savile Row. Each will give an account of how their brand has evolved – in the case of Jaeger, covering a grandiose 125 years – and will offer a snapshot into the daily life of a tailor, highlighting influences, production processes and business acumen.

The event will be divided into two parts, the first in a seminar format complete with Q&A session for the audience who will leave with complimentary goody bag, and the second a drinks reception allowing one-on-one chat with the designers surrounded by an exhibition of beautifully tailored pieces in the V&A’s opulent surroundings. Tickets are going for £25 or just £5 for students, and are available by calling the booking office on 020 7942 2820.

Whether you prefer to do your raving vicariously or simply want to check out the vibe before committing to a cheeky weekend in Ibiza, then B@TV is the site for you.  The unique new portal is an online and global community the the Gen 2.0 clubber – featuring exclusive and live high definition video
content and music straight from the decks of the cream of today’s electronic talent.  Never before have the world’s best electronic DJ’s, venues, music events and fans been brought together by one online platform.

As the internet becomes more and more fragmented, b@ takes all the best aspects of social networking sites, web-based radio and music TV and rolls them into one easy to navigate website – all users have to do is create their own profile (or avatar – it’s up to you) and are they’re through the velvet rope without so much a  a murmer from a clipboard nazi.

Created by two entrepreneurs with 20 years experience in the entertainment and advertising industries, b@’s partners include the top 50 DJ’s in the world from Sasha to Pete Tong plus the most influential music promoters and venues from Pacha Ibiza to Buddha Bar NYC and Café Del Mar in Singapore.

Four b@ live webcams are present in each of its selected venues, giving members unrestricted access to the DJ box itself as well as a bird’s eye view of revellers and dance floor.  So whether you were throwing shapes at the Space opener or at Creamfields this summer, chances are that b@ caught your best moments on film.

Posting and tagging images on Facebook has become a part of everyday life for the internet savvy generation and with over 500 hours of exclusive video footage already available online and new content added daily, b@ users can tag themselves, share the link with friends and embed the clip into other sites such as Facebook, Myspace and  blog pages too.

Sharing a 30 second video clip of yourself dancing with the beautiful people at Love Parade is way more satisfying and envy-making than a simple photo and a  second chance to check out and chat online with someone you met in the club but washed their number off the back of your hand, bottom or left breast via b@networking – priceless!

But from Pacha to Paramount – be part of the b@  experience with its summer party on 1st August at Paramount’s Level 31.  In association with Doubletrouble productions, it promises to feature the cream of today’s electronic music talent with exclusive DJ sets by the likes of Matt Tolfrey, Luciano Esse and live performances from Dan Berkson & James What. Clubbers can experience a slice of the hedonism and cutting edge music of Ibiza in the heart of Laondon’s West End.  Ok, the Balearic sunshine isn’t guaranteed but Paramount’s plush 31st floor location promises stunning views of the capital in summertime.

A Berry Spirited Affair

Friday, July 24th, 2009

The Drink Shop is going berry tastic with three brand new fruit infused spirits.

 hanger1

Boutique vodka brand, Hangar One has introduced Fraser River Raspberry Vodka using super rare Meeker berries all the way from Washington State and its deep pink colour and crushed raspberry aroma are tell tale sign it’s made from the fresh fruit through and through.  The Meeker crop is pre-sold in February before it’s even picked!  Mix up a killer cocktail or serve neat over ice.

Next up is Belvedere Black Raspberry Vodka – coming hot on the heels of its Cytrus (lemon) and Pomarancza (orange) flavours, this new kid on the Belvedere block is jammy and chocolatey and almost blackcurrant with the depth of its dried fruit flavour.  With a peppery finish it’s one to try in Martinis.

And last but by no means least is Rocky Mountain Blackberry Whiskey.  The hard man of the bunch is made by a micro-distiller previously famed for its superb range of apple and peach whiskeys.  The blackberries have been harvested in the Rocky Mountains and then aged for eight months with the whiskey in bourbon barrels.  Make a Whiskey Sour with a difference.

Drink Shop MD, Tim Francis is aware that a proud parent shouldn’t display favouritism but if pressed to choose, he reckons the Hangar One wins by a nose.

Hanger One Fraser River Raspberry Vodka, £34.50
Belvedere Black Raspberry Vodka, £28.65
Rocky Mountain Blackberry Whiskey, £28.95

All are 40% ABV and all available online from mid Augst at www.TheDrinkShop.com

New Kids on the Block

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

The Council of Fashion Designers of America has opened its doors to a new class of influential designers who, as a collective, embody all that is new and exciting across the fashion world.

And it has clearly been an exceptional year, with the intake final count at 31, as opposed to the more typical 20 of previous years. The change is attributed to the current President Diane von Furstenburg who has made inclusiveness her priority in her two years at the top. CFDA executive director Steven Kolb said, “She always refers to the CFDA as her extended family”.

So who has been welcomed into the fashion family home? The honours list includes names such as Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, and Maria Pinto, all of whom have forged influential careers over the past year, most notably getting their designs on the back of our favourite First Lady, Michelle Obama. Find also the Olsen twins, who have departed from the cutesy image of their earlier years and demonstrate their innate understanding of design through their exclusive ranges The Row and Elizabeth and James. The CFDA will officially mark the occasion with an event at the Four Seasons restaurant on October 21.
