My Sole

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I love my new soles.

Oh I do adore a new pair of shoes but  I am normally drawn to those glamorous over priced, shockingly high, unbelievably painful party shoes that sit beautifully in my wardrobe and are rarely worn.

But this week my heart was stolen. I have fallen deeply in love with a a pair of shoes called Martha. And they are glamorous but not over priced, shockingly flat as they’re pumps and unbelievably comfortable. But best of all they are  perfect for any party.

There is a reason these are perfect shoes and thats because a great deal of time has gone in to making sure that they are not just chic, sexy and stylish but that they are comfortable. And we mean comfortable!

Visible cushioning inserts have been placed at the heel and ball of your foot for added comfort. They are lined with moulded. breathable latex foam and full-grain leather that helps to stabilise the foot by memorising its shape.  These are a pair of shoes that will spend no time sitting in my wardrobe thats for sure! Kat Maconie’s Autumn/Winter 09 Collection will have you saving up your pennies.

What a face, what a future.

get-attachmentaspx

The Olyvia Oriental Gallery is opening up it’s new division ETC with one of the most promising and inspiring international artists of our time. Marco Bolognesi is an artist with a talent that reaches far beyond the limits. His main focus is woman ‘as the dominent force of nature and the dominent force of the future.’

And this is exactly what his new exhibition of 1st edition photographs is all about: woman, nature, future.

If contemporary art is your thing you’ll want his stunning works hanging on your wall.

But that’s not all, firstly the exhibition is actually an installation as the interior of the gallery has be transformed into a spaceship which Bolognesi will recreate from a still of his new film.

New film? This man has no limits.

In the center of this extraordinary event his award winning film Black Hole will be screened which takes his vision even further.

This is an artist not to be missed. He is one of the top new photographers taking photography to a new level.

juju-2

Some call it voodoo but we call it JuJu.  This hip new Chelsea hang out, owned by celebrity pairing Lee Chapman and Leslie Ash and designed by Martin Burdnizk, creative force behind The Club at the Ivy and St Pancras Grand, has just clinched the coveted accolade of ‘Best New Bar’ in the  2009 London Club and Bar Awards.

And with Chelsea Ice Teas and Pornstar and Expresso Martinis on the cocktail menu, Pan Asian Tapas to soak them up and enough champagne to make you forget your own name, it’s easy to see why.  Live music from 9pm on Tuesday nights is singlehandedly putting the swing back into the King’s Road and celebrity parties hosted for OK! Magazine guarantee to keep paparazzi flash bulbs a-popping.

Get your smackers around the bar’s new sharing cocktails too – twice the alcohol, twice the fun and twice the hangover.

Come over to the dark side!

Picnic in the Park

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Even the most enthusiastic city-dweller finds themselves yearning for some green open space and the chance to relax as spring awakens – and one of London’s quirkier private members clubs is helping us make the most of the sentiment. Enter The Fox Club, a venue which works to change the Mayfair members club image and provide a more relaxed atmosphere for the discerning guest.

A stone’s throw away from Green Park and a mere stroll from the famous vast space of Hyde Park, The Fox Club is making a wise move by using its impressive surroundings to offer patrons a summery picnic experience. For only £40 for two, the picnic includes a choice of starter, main and dessert with cheese, plus red or white wine and water, and can be made to order on the desired day if requested before 10am. It is the perfect treat for two when city living becomes all too much.

Indeed The Fox Club itself offers its members significant space and facilities to regain some R&R. The social scene is diverse and alive, and sells itself on its anti-establishment mantra, going against the grain of the typically stuffy and formal London members club.

Poppy de Villeneuve at the Soho Grand

Nyloners addicted to the jet-set lifestyle should be sure to make a pit stop at Poppy de Villeneuve’s new photographic exhibition at New York’s hip Soho Grand Hotel.

soho-grand

This Brit girl has style in spades and a lineage to die for: her mother, Jan, was one of the most celebrated models of the 1960s and 1970s, dad, Justin de Villeneuve, discovered and managed the model Twiggy and Poppy herself was photographed by both Mario Testino and Juergen Teller before her 18th birthday.

But she’s now decamped to NY and proved her credentials behind the lens as well. A photographic repetoir shot using her signature Hasselblad is diverse as a series on the life-serving inmates of ‘Angola’, the Louisiana State Penitentiary to commissions for Nanette Lepore’s new fragrance campaign and for Elizabeth Arden. Her editorial work is featured regularly in The Saturday and Sunday Telegraph magazines, The Guardian Weekend, Dazed and Confused, Esquire, W Magazine and both British and American Vogue.

The new exhibition has a musical theme and captures star-struck fans and pulsating crowds watching live performances, rendering them inert in their worship of the gods of rock.
