Y-Front Goes Female

Monday, May 18th, 2009

For the first time in the company’s 75 year history, Jockey, the pioneers of the legendary Y-Front, are expanding into the female market.

WIth their current status as global best selling underwear brand, and spokesmen and poster boys like David Beckham, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp, it was arguably only a matter of time until women worldwide demanded some of the Jockey action. The new ranges for women follow the established ethos of fine cotton and microfibres, flattering cuts and natural and understated comfort, all of which have made Jockey the company they are today. There will be five ranges to choose from, catering to all tastes from the female Y-Front to sheer lace, in a variety of colourways.

Ruth Stevens, spokesman for Jockey, described the company’s 75th anniversary as “a momentous occasion for an iconic brand”, and the female Y-Fronts as a “brand new approach”, which is sure to do well in the ever-growing lingerie market. Get yours at www.needundies.com

Reflexions Reflexology

reflexions-reflexology

Tucked right underneath the building of 250 Kings Road there is a very humble looking beauty salon. However do not be put off by the décor, there are currently renovations underway and it certainly isn’t a reflection of the quality of the treatment.

Although a novice with reflexology, this being my first, it’s easy to see why this seems to be such a popular treatment to have. The benefits are numerous, including restful sleep, removal of aches and pains as well as improving eczema and asthma. Reflexology aims to open up energy pathways, relieving tension and working on soothing different areas of the body so that movement is created to promote good health. Not only are you balanced and calmed afterwards – it is even easy, despite being in busy Chelsea, to fall asleep – you are also given an account of what needs attention in your body. Lungs, neck, shoulders, stomach, they are all stimulated and checked over, revealing how your interior body is working without you even realising.

The Reflexions Reflexology is no grand beauty spa and the interior definitely needs some work, for the dusty air makes me a little uneasy to try a massage there. However, sitting back in a chair for an hour and having your feet skilfully manipulated and softened leaves you with a complete sense of renewal and it’s convenience (it works on a walk-in basis) and reasonable prices make it a handy escapism during your lunch hour.

Yet, the obvious expertise offered, reveal there is a reason why this salon has lasted thirteen years and still very much standing.

Planet Hollywood

Friday, May 15th, 2009

World-famous Planet Hollywood will be opening its new £5 million restaurant and bar on the Haymarket, London, with a suitably impressive launch party this June.

The new restaurant and bar are designed by Jonathan Manser of The Manser Practise, whose previous works have included Sketch, the Waldorf Hotel and the W Hotel Group. The open-plan space takes full advantage of the vast ground floor windows, and compliments the natural light with exposed brickwork and natural timber, keeping the venue fresh and interesting with movie memorabilia and props from new releases.

A “Best of British” room will feature a permanent display of the most celebrated British films, and a bespoke Union Jack carpet has been designed to adorn the space. A private room is also available for hire, perfect for VIPs and special occasions. An extensive menu will be served throughout, with the legendary choices such as the Planet Burger remaining in business. New dishes will also be introduced, masterminded by the Planet Dailies restaurant in the Vegas resort. CEO Robert Earl plans for the Haymarket venue to become the “flagship restaurant of the group”, and warns the capital that a “glamorous, celebrity-filled opening night party” will be coming their way in the coming weeks.

prada-character-tag

With summer holidays on the horizon, Prada has cleverly launched their new character tag just in time. The tag works by simply sliding in and fastening your initials into the metal frame with the letters being interchangeable for your own personalisation.

Specifically designed to go with Prada’s selection of bags, the character tag comes in hand stitched crocodile or Saffiano leather and an array of colours including burgundy, black and crocodile which all match the material and style of Prada’s bags.

The Tags are on sale now at both Prada Old Bond Street and Heathrow Terminal 5.
