The Hendrick’s Charter

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Hendrick’s Gin, the Providors of the Peculiar, have launched a witty quest for the summer, to champion the return of quirky British fruits and vegetables into use.

The Hendrick’s Gin Charter for the Legalisation of Forgotten Fruits (and vegetables) is an online petition, found on the Facebook group of the same name. Protestors are encouraged to upload photos of their own home-grown beauties and will be rewarded with Hendrick’s bounty, including bottles of the unique Scottish elixir and the chance to attend an exclusive seasonal gathering. Around 20% of all produce is rejected by shops, who could not accept odd shaped fruit under EU law. Now lifted, Hendrick’s are supporting a move toward more natural and less wasteful sales.

Hendrick’s is made with infusions of cucumber and rose petals, creating a unique spirit which is distilled and bottled in its native Scotland in exclusive small batches. Try it with elderflower, apple juice and lemonade, or with classic tonic – for more recipes and ideas try www.hendricksgin.com.

suwha

Freshly launched online website Suwha is the new chic invention from London designer Suwha Hong. Praised for her innovative and unique style, the clothes are tailored with striking detail and are aimed at the “adventurous, thoughtful and stylish” client.

Her first collection was leapt upon by all big fashion magazines and has already been seen on Elle Macpherson and Jodie Kidd. The next collection looks like it might set pulses racing again with straw hats, soft tailoring and ruffles featured highly throughout. The site is filled with distinctive capes and jackets using the best quality fabrics and materials.

It’s worth taking a look to see if it’s going to cause the same kind of stir as she did previously in the fashion world.

Jo Malone’s nod to the illustrious Chelsea Flower Show and Sloane in Bloom is finishing this Saturday. This will be Sloane in Bloom’s fourth year and is aimed at inviting neighbouring retailers to create floral window displays, which are then judged by the Royal Horticultural Society and the Sloane Association.

Having  triumphed in the Sloane in Bloom for the past two years, Jo Malone has upped the game once more, transforming their Sloane Street store into a floral wonderland. Consistently motivated by their current collection, Jo Malone has in the past interpreted classic fragrance ingredients and this year their giant rose covered bottles are inspired by the Jo Malone Red Roses collection.

Jo Malone have even decided to win over the buyer with a Tasting Bar. Here, an in house stylist will help you find your summer signature scent while your hands and arms are massaged with the new Red Rose body lotion; and with rosehip tea also at your disposal, it looks like Jo Malone might be about to score a hat trick.

Paul Edmonds UPR

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Finally, a treatment for the unnatural blondes amongst us that works.  The Ultimate Protein Rejuvenate treatment is the latest rescue for your locks.  Specifically designed for Paul Edmonds, the bespoke repair remedy works on rebuilding the hair so that it is revamped from the inside as opposed to the quick fixes normally found in salons.  Then again, Paul Edmonds isn’t the usual salon and the new UPR is just another example of their trump cards.

The secrets behind the treatment are the Persian Katera plant, the amino acids and vegetable protein which are smoothed over the hair.  All of these work together to strengthen, thicken, resuscitate and at last bring back some shine to your hair.  The whole treatment lasts 45 minutes as you are placed under a heater to allow the ingredients to saturate.

Especially good for those who colour or use chemical products in their hair, the UPR treatment is strongly recommended before you next decide to highlight your hair.  Lasting for six to eight weeks, depending on hair damage, even after two washes the miracle mask is showing no signs of slowing down.  So, if you’re guilty of the tendency to over-blonde, it’s wise to step inside Paul Edmonds before the summer so those broken-ended hair days are no longer a giveaway.
