Gemma Booth

To coincide with the launch of their latest spring/summer collection, Roxy Heart has teamed up with JaguarShoes to present two exciting, but very different, photography exhibitions to celebrate the fairer sex.

“Girls, Girls, Girls” is an exhibition of works by the amazingly talented female photographers, Valerie Phillips and Gemma Booth, and can be seen at The Old Shoreditch Fire Station.

Valerie’s documentary style of photography captures the beauty and spontaneity of her subjects and for this exhibition she is presenting unseen pictures from her longest running case study, Lacy, a girl from Kentucky. The title “You’re so sexy baby”, “Shut the fuck up” is derived from an exchange of words between the girl and her boyfriend.

Gemma’s playful and evocative photographs join the dots between fantasy and reality and her characters inhabit a dream-like alternative world. Her work includes a short film she’d done with prop-stylist Sarah May, showing at the back of the gallery space.

Both Gemma and Valerie have a strong following and this exhibition leaves you in no doubt as to why. Girls, Girls, Girls, runs until Sunday 19th April and can be seen at The Shoreditch Old Fire Station.

Sales of luxury accessories up by 40 per cent at Selfridges

According to the team at Selfridges, they are seeing an increase of around 40 per cent increase of classic luxuryaccessories across its stores in Birmingham, Manchester and London.

As the recession deepens, Selfridges’ customers are showing no resistance to investing in timeless classic pieces. Iconic handbags including Chanel’s ‘2.55’ (£1,600), Louis Vuitton’s ‘Neverfull’ (from £330) and Gucci’s ‘Babouska’ (£525) have experienced fifty per cent uplift at Selfridges’ stores nationwide as customers opt to invest in accessories with longevity.

In contrast to the high street where bright citrus shades are dominating the accessories market, customers investing in luxury handbags are playing safe with navy, black, white and brown current best sellers.

To celebrate its centenary, Selfridges – home to the UK’s largest accessories hall – currently has a European exclusive on Louis Vuitton’s classic ‘Neverfull’ in Damier canvas as featured in Louis Vuitton’s latest controversial ad campaign with 50 year old Madonna in risqué pose.

James Servini, Selfridges’ Accessories Buying Manager said: “Handbags are still the world’s ultimate style statement and every woman’s best friend. Customers look to us to be ahead of the accessories game with European firsts such as Louis Vuitton’s Damier ‘Neverfull’.”
