Moet and Chandon Scarlett Johansson

Moët   &   Chandon,   the   champagne  of  cinema,  has  introduced  its celebrity  spokesperson  at  its “Tribute to Cinema” gala  at  London’s Big Sky studio:  the beautiful Scarlett Johansson. Moët is the very first champagne House to introduce  a Hollywood celebrity ambassador, introducing the face of the world’s most loved champagne.

Moët’s  “Tribute  to  Cinema” theme infused the evening, which  was  held  at  London’s Big Sky film studio. Guests sipped Moët & Chandon  Imperial  NV  served  from  gold  Methuselahs and enjoyed sweet canapes  with  a  twist:  miniature popcorn, bitesite icecream cones and delicious  churros.

British  and  international celebrities arrived in “red  carpet”  attire  and  were  greeted  by  House  President Frédéric Cumenal.  Following the Moët red carpet tradition from the international  film festivals the House supports, celebrities were invited to autograph  a  Moët  & Chandon Nebuchadnezzar, to be auctioned off in direct support of  Scarlett’s charity of choice, international aid agency Oxfam and its climate change work.

“Moët  and  the  movies both tell compelling stories and share authentic emotions  with  the  world,”  explained  Scarlett  Johansson, the first Hollywood  face  of Moët & Chandon. “I am honored to have been chosen as their  ambassador  and  to  make  history  with  the brand, as the first celebrity face of champagne!”

Frédéric   Cumenal,  President  of  Moët  &  Chandon,  added:  “Scarlett Johansson  was  the  obvious  choice as our ambassador because she, like Moët, has a magical story to tell and makes people dream.”

Moët will launch an international advertising campaign starring Scarlett Johansson from April 2009, which was shot by renowned photographers Mert Alas  and  Marcus Piggott.  The campaign will include print, outdoor and online  advertising, featuring Moët and Scarlett as icons of celebration and reinforcing the brand as the champagne of cinema.

Olivella Face and Body Bar Soaps

olivella

With every company jumping on the green bandwagon Olivella has taken the concept one step further. They are launching their face and body bar soaps which have a natural rich green hue gained from the chlorophyll in the olives from which they’re made.

An age–old Italian skin-care secret, the benefits of virgin olive oil have long been known and are claimed to provide unparalleled anti-aging benefits. Olivella is also rich in antioxidants Vitamin A and E, and contains bioactive substances that stimulate and smooth the connective tissue to combat the first signs of aging.

Made from 100% virgin olive oil from Italy, Olivella is a complete body and skin care line and their products retain a richness in dermoprotective ingredients which makes it unique. Their fragrance-free bar soap is entirely natural, while the scented formulation is 99% natural with a light yet refreshing fragrance.

Olivella’s blend of new technology and centuries-old tradition is sure to have strong appeal but with fierce competition in the natural skin care market it remains to be seen whether it’s different enough to take it by storm.

The perfect partnership

lalique and haviland

News of another, perhaps more highbrow, collaboration has come our way. Crystal company Lalique and illustrious old-school porcelain brand Haviland have joined forces at the opening of their new flagship store in Mayfair on Wednesday night.

Interestingly this partnership has spanned almost a century when Suzanne of the Lalique household married Paul Haviland, head of his grandfather’s Limoges porcelain business, after meeting on holiday – it is all very Capulet and Montague – only this union thankfully ends happily, and with no blood spilt on either crystal cocktail glasses or china tea service.

The gorgeous boutique is fresh in style – the design is contemporary – white gloss walls and dusty pink wallpaper adorned with floral motifs designed by René Lalique and covers two floors.

Highlights of the collection include a fountain made from 20 Coutard panels and the Masque de Femme motif, revealing the face of a mythical woman with delicate features and the crystal sculpture of a Zeila Panther made using the ancient lost-wax casting method.

Matthew Williamson for H&M

Here’s a tip: take a sneaky peek at Matthew Williamson’s first collection for H&M out next month and be the first to snap up his finest creations for spring/summer at a bargain price.

The quirky designer joins a rostrum of other top designers, namely, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli and Viktor & Rolf, all of whom have successfully collaborated with the high street brand.

‘It’s been fascinating to search back through my archives [in the past 11 years] to isolate the most iconic pieces, then rework them for H&M,’ Matthew says. ‘The spirit of the collection is both covetable and precious.’

All of the signature style elements present in his main collections are seen throughout the new and exciting collection. ‘Colour is one of the defining aspects of my style. I focussed on the iconic peacock motif seen across my collections to develop a palette of blues, chartreuse and emerald,’ Williamson adds.

As expected, vivacious colours and prints are strewn across the desirable pieces which include a taupe play suit with stitching detail, an electric blue micro-dress with an impressive peacock motif and a fabulous patchwork-inspired maxi-dress that would be perfect for any summer party or beach.

So put April 23 in your diaries and practice your jostling techniques – these frocks are bound to fly out of the stores.  But don’t fret, the collaboration will return for a second summer instalment (thankfully featuring even more beachwear pieces) and will be available from May 14 and, for the first time in H&M’s designer collaboration history, will be on sale in every single one of its stores.
