Having won a celebrity cult following with its Brut Gold – its fans are rumoured to include actors Leonardo diCaprio, George Clooney and rapper Jay-Z – Champagne Cattier has launched its new Armand de Brignac Champagne Rosé, which it claims is its most lavish and opulent champagne of all.

The exclusive champagne is packaged in a  pink bottle, embossed with four pure pewter labels, featuring the trademark Ace of Spades insignias symbolising the Champagne region’s regal heritage. And just to give that extra air of luxury, the bottle comes in a black lacquer wooden box, fitted with an engraved nameplate, lined in black velvet and embossed with the brand’s royal crest.

The Cattier family has owned and cultivated land in the Champagne region’s Montagne de Reims Terroir since 1763 and it has maintained a reputation for producing exquisite champagne. All the eye-catching bottles are filled, corked, and cultivated by hand.

With production limited, this ultra-trendy new bubbly is sure to be a hit. But be warned it comes at a price. Available from Harrods and all regional Selfridges and Harvey Nichols department stores, Armand de Brignac Rosé Champagne retails at an RRP of £400.

Under the Hammer

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Paris is in awe after a weekend of unprecedented queues and bustle at the Grand Palais, as Christie’s prepared to host the auction of Yves Saint Laurent’s private collections of art.

Eager viewers had formed a line around the building by 7.30am on Sunday morning to guarantee themselves time to peruse the 733 exquisite pieces on display before they are sold to the very highest bidders. The exhibit is fashioned as replica rooms of Saint Laurent’s Parisian apartment, with the artwork freely displayed rather then enclosed behind cabinet doors. The VP of Christie’s America, Jonathan Rendell, described the set-up as “really glamourous…real luxury. The way they lived was extraordinary”.

The “they” to whom he refers is Laurent and his lifelong partner, Pierre Bergé, who will understandably be holding on to select pieces of the couple’s extensive collection, including Warhol portraits of Saint Laurent. Betty Catroux, the infamous YSL muse, has said she will accompany Bergé through “every minute” of the sale, describing the fashionistas as “a close family”.

The sale began in earnest on Monday morning, and runs until Wednesday. For up-to-the-minute news on the individual lots, see the Christie’s website, www.christies.com

When Harry met Natalie…

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

In an unlikely pairing, Prince Harry and Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia are rumoured to be somewhat of an item.

Natalie Imbruglia

Harry, who recently split with long-term girlfriend Chelsy Davy, and Natalie, who is also newly single after separating from musician husband Daniel Johns last year, reportedly formed a close friendship at Natalie’s 34th birthday bash.

The 24-year-old Royal, ten years Natalie’s junior, was apparently the guest of honour at the star’s fancy dress party held at the Kensington Roof Gardens in West London two weeks ago. And if rumours are to be believed, the pair got on famously.

A source said:

“Natalie was delighted when Harry turned up. They had a great catch-up and spent ages giggling together. Natalie wasn’t exactly avoiding his attentions. Harry was being very charming, which probably made her feel very fabulous and young.”

Natalie was later reportedly overheard telling a friend that she thought Harry was “sexy” and very “charming”.

And now the pair are apparently staying touch via text messages (who says romance is dead) and Harry was seen grinning from ear to ear after receiving a message the day after the party.

It seems as though these two have got the rumour mill into overdrive and no doubt Natalie is probably flattered by the young Prince’s affection, there’s unlikely to be much truth to this unlikely romance…

Recession, what Recession ?

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

One London banker seems to have escaped the recession, or perhaps is just having one last blast. Maya, the Soho club so beloved of footballers and starlets, played host to the banker and his entourage last Thursday after the BRIT awards where a staggering £43,067 was spent on Champange & Vodka.

At least he didn’t suffer the same fate as one hapless visitor to Mo*Vida last year who, according to The Times, topped off a £21,000 bar bill with a £15,000 cleaning bill after spraying the club with Cristal.

For those wishing to re-create the experience the reciept is below.
