Armani Onde

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Fascinated by the mystery surrounding the sensual and feminine woman, Giorgio Armani has been inspired to create three new fragrances.   Armani wanted to capture the woman’s sensuous power in his scent and in Onde, he aims to transform a fleeting moment into an eternity.   All three of the perfumes contain a fantastical theme, with each bottle inscribed with an elegant and different motif which hints at their imagined motif.

Onde Mystere, Onde Vertige and Onde Extase all manage to give an enchanting and dream-like experience.  The musky oriental Onde Mystere comes in a violet shade to emulate the waves on its bottle and contains Moroccan Rose Buds, Vanilla Absolute and Benzoin to add further intrigue.  The woody oriental Onde Extase, on the other hand, imitates the art of the geishas and shows off its vibrant green with its Asian inspired lines across the bottle. It is fused with Cedar, Musk and Aesame Absolute.  The last of this exquisite trilogy is Onde Vertige which comes in a rose gold hue and is bottled in a glass container with facets of an Indian palace.  Inspired by India, it has the essence of Frangipani Flower, black liquorice, Pittosporum and Jasmine Petals.

Armani aims to create a new chapter for fragrances called “Neo-oriental” which brings a modern eye into a classical orientation.  He notes “I have always wanted to capture the magnetism that you feel in the presence of a sensuous woman.” The opulence, density and lingering notes of these fragrances are as Armani remarks, “to pay tribute to this mysterious allure.”

However, the past few months has seen the launch of several oriental themed perfumes, such as Calvin Klein’s Secret Obsession and Yves Saint Laurent’s Elle to name but a few, so will the Armani Trio be different enough to stand out against the rest?

Swarovski Crystals

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

This Christmas will see Swarovski light up Knightsbridge. A five metre Crystal Snowflake created by the widely acclaimed light designer Ingo Maurer, will hang between The Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Harvey Nichols and it will be the first ever Christmas decoration in Knightsbridge.

The design has been put together by Swarovski and the Knightsbridge Business Group. The Knightsbridge Business Group aims to attract both international and local people to Knightsbridge and both companies feel that this novel celebration of Christmas should do just that.

In addition to Ingo Maurer’s snowflake, to mark this occasion miniature snowflake ornaments will go on sale from 8th November at Harvey Nichols and Harrods. However, on December 7th, for one day only, Swarovski crystals will go on sale at 47 Elizabeth Street, with wrapping paper used from Crystallized snowflakes. All Swarovski purchases will have a percentage of the proceeds donated to UNICEF.

The lights will be turned on on the 8th December by a mystery celebrity guest and could be just what you need to put you in the spirit of Christmas.

Bond’s Brands

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Bond is surely every advertiser’s dream. Not only are the movies dramatic, fast-paced, witty, and smart, 007 encapsulates everything one could deem “cool”, be it cars, drinks, or beautiful women. Even to a Bond layman like myself, who can take or leave the politics and vendettas because the eye is distracted by a certain Mr Craig, the portrayed lifestyle is not only ridiculously dangerous, but unashamedly stylish. So what would it take to live the life of Bond?

The product placement in the modern movies actually makes it fairly simple to compile a list of the necessary elements. The Aston, as standard, in this instance the DBS V12 as, previously seen in Casino Royale in 2006 as a prototype – officially unveiled in 2007, it’s available to own from £160 000. Ford is also a major player, showing off their newly-acquired Range Rovers and the new model KA as driven by Camille, the launch of which coincides neatly with the movie release date. Ocean Sky, a British private jet company, scored a great deal in loaning EON Productions their planes for a week of shooting,, being rewarded eight times throughout the film, flaunting everything from the interior decoration of their aircraft to the cabin crew’s uniform.

One of the key markers of Bond’s style and suave is the watch, which this time is a much coveted and admired Omega model, the Seamaster 300M Chronometer Limited Edition (naturally). At a shade under £2000, it is in fact more affordable than the average Breitling or Rolex, and comes with the free gift of Bond endorsement – and if that doesn’t score man-points, nothing will.
