Ben Turnbull

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Soho is the place to be.

This Thursday something wonderfully disturbing is happening in London’s Soho.

Lazarides Gallery is presenting A Nightmare on Greek Street, a new series of work by Ben Turnbull.

Turnbull’s new show creates an eye opening and fascinating exhibition with his Pop Culture sculptures and biting satire. An interesting mix that is aimed at drawing peoples attention to the huge rise in civil unrest.

He has created a body of work that draws on shocking and engaging the viewers to some of the most horrific events and situations in history and society by using simple and normally unthreatening objects and images.

Using found objects, toy props and Americana, he has constructed a collection that focuses on the world of nightmares.

Alexander McQueen

Monday, July 21st, 2008

So excited.

Online shopping for Alexander McQueen for the first time.
But hang on a second.

The website is not working.
Good start.

Apparently the site went in to overload with so many over excited McQueen fans desperately trying to access the site.

But don’t worry. Is it working now.

For the first time ever one can, where ever they maybe around the globe, access the wonderful world of Alexander McQueen and shop till they drop online. How exciting.

So now McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2008 Collection is available for purchase with just a click of a button.

The site is the perfect time waster as well.
(because we needed another one with Facebook and Net-a-porter there for us to waste the day on)
For there are stunning catwalk shows that one can view from the Fall show and plenty of photographs and fashion shoot spreads to gaze over.

Best part: free shipping to the U.S.

Could life be any better right now.

It’s a Must-Have

Rupert Sanderson’s new Kit Kat shoe is this Autumn/Winter’s total must-have.

Exclusively at Selfridges from November this utterly cute lace Kit Kat shoe is simply wonderful.
Sanderson really knows how to combine elegance, style and beauty into one shoe.
The shoe-boot is a noughties fashion phenomenon and Sanderson’s take is set to be seen on all the right feet this Autumn/Winter.

The suede platform boot has an eighties feel with black lace detail on the inner, nodding to the huge lace story played out on the international catwalks, seen at Alexander McQueen and Givenchy.
The delicate pastel colour palette gives an unexpected twist to a tough, distinctive shape and 100mm heel. 595, exclusively at Selfridges from November.
You better grab one when you can.

Galliano Perfume

Monday, July 21st, 2008

It’s all about the Galliano effect.

The world famous British designer John Galliano is final moving in to fragrances.

He is introducing his debut scent some 20 years after launching his fashion brand.

“We had about 360 tests — more than for a couture collection,” he commented in Women’s Wear Daily

And like any true professional Galliano was involved with every step of the scent’s development unlike many of those celebrities who decide to suddenly produce their own scent.

Every detail of this new fragrance has been thought about.

The outer box is designed to look like a book, reminiscent of travel books that Galliano makes while on voyages he takes before the designing of a new collection.

The bottle’s neck was inspired by collars appearing in Galliano’s first fashion collection, Les Incroyables, and the flacon is topped with a Gothic G. Model Guinevere Van Seenus is the face on the box.

Galliano, who also is the couturier at Christian Dior, had thoughts of flowers, particularly of rose, peony, iris with its powdery side, and violet.

The scent will be launched at the end of September in the U.K., through an exclusive with Harrods, and in Germany.

On October 11, it is to be introduced in France, exclusively at Sephora, and then a few days later in Switzerland. The launch in the rest of the world will take place in 2009.
