Are you in with the in-crowd?

Prepare for a social shake-up of seismic proportion. London’s elite will soon have a trio of new playgrounds in which to broker deals, meet and party in high old style. Beaufort House, the capital’s newest private members’ club is all set to open on the King’s Road, Chelsea favourite, Mamilanji has been reborn as Tuatara and Burlington Street has just welcomed the boutique Luxx Club into its Mayfair fold.

Chelsea has long lacked the ‘work, rest and play’ style members clubs of the West End and their East-Side outposts. But now SW3’s entrepreneurs can put their taxi money towards the yearly levy for the swanky new Beaufort House members’ club opening this month on King’s Road.

Pet project of Chelsea local, Louis Hysa – behind the ever-popular Azteca Bar – and his long-time pal, Simon Oldham, the club boasts a brasserie, restaurant, two cocktail bars, exclusive champagne bar, meeting rooms and private cinema.

Set over three floors, there’s a ground floor brasserie and cocktail bar which will be open to the public but the rest of the venue is strictly members only with its own private entrance and reception.

Décor and restoration is down to award-winning designers, Stuart Trett and Laura Van Zeveren responsible for the interiors of Sloane Square's The Botanist.

With wi-fi throughout plus complimentary lap tops and conference facilities for the use of its members, we’re sure the area’s movers and shakers will install themselves in no time. However, it’s not all work and well-rounded members can also enjoy preferential rates on hotels and premier clothing labels plus events taking in art, film, literature and sport. And with a bargain fee of just £600 a year, we suggest you get your name on the waiting list pronto.

However, if you prefer to keep work and play separate, you’ll be pleased to know that King’s Road’s party central, Mamilanji has just reopened by the name of Tuatara - which the zoologists amongst you will recognize as a reptile endemic to New Zealand! – but to everyone else it’s simply a decadent haven where commerce takes a back seat to the more serious business of dancing the night away.

Which brings us to Luxx Club owned by the charismatic Luca Maggiora of Maddox fame. This boutique boite on New Burlington Street is beyond exclusive. With capacity for only 200, you can’t even blag or bribe your way in. You have to be personally invited! And the lucky few to step over Italian architect Rossella Stina’s uber-designed threshold can expect a spectacular glass runway of coloured lights, 1980’s inspired black lacquer walls and their own private walled garden.

You’ll sip from a cocktail list conceived with eclectic homemade tinctures including infused sugars, smoked salt, Earl Grey jelly and cloudberry jam and we’re reliably informed that the signature Luxx Black Ice Tea is served in a julep tin. Now there’s an invitation we're not turning down in a hurry!
